Doctor Quixote

Part sci fi, part epic fantasy. Space opera, I guess.

In the very distant future, on a beautiful, temperate planet which has been colonised for so long that all memory of Earth has become ancient legend, a small group of adventurers climb the mountain above their village find a man made of metal, fused to the rock of the peak.

He says his name is Prometheus and reveals the entrance to an ancient labyrinth that runs deep below their planet’s surface. He guides them to the centre of the facility, where they learn the dark and terrible truth about their world and their forefathers.

Then he brings about the apocalypse.

The story plays a lot with Greek and Norse mythology, with a few pieces of Paradise Lost thrown in for fun. A mix of feudalism, futurism and revenge: served very cold and very, very old.
